It's a complicated issue. There aren't any easy answers. It's not a static process. Catheter tip position is very dynamic and you have to deal with it in that way. So you want to know the anatomy so that when you're looking at a chest x-ray, you don't sort of automatically assume that the catheter tip below that that little inflection point is in the right atrium.
